# How InkDoo works

## 1. Bring your article

- Paste Markdown or plain text, import a link, or upload a file (.md, .txt, .html up to 2 MB; .docx up to 10 MB). See [article import](https://inkdoo.app/article-import.md).
- Chinese or English. Minimum 80 characters, maximum 12,000 characters (longer text is truncated in the editor). You can edit the text before planning.

## 2. Pick a character

Choose one of the 6 built-in characters or a custom character. That character stars in every image of the article, so the set stays consistent. You can switch characters before generating each image. See [characters](https://inkdoo.app/characters.md).

## 3. Plan (free)

An LLM reads the article like an art director: it picks the ideas worth drawing, chooses a structure and a fresh low-tech visual metaphor for each, and decides which paragraph each image goes after. Planning costs no credits.

- Article mode (文章插图): 1–6 illustrations (default 3), 1536x1024 (~3:2 landscape).
- Slides mode (课件页图): 1–8 content pages (default 5) at 1536x864 (16:9), plus an optional 1792x768 (21:9) cover. One viewpoint per page.
- Structures the planner uses: Workflow, System detail, Before/after, Character states, Concept metaphor, Layered method, Route map, Mini comic.
- Slide deck templates (课件模板): Lecture 教学课件 (Concept → example → summary, one big keyword per page); Pitch 产品/路演 (Problem → solution → how it works → proof → CTA); Work report 工作汇报 (Background → progress/data → issues → next steps, hand-drawn charts); Story 故事讲解 (Beginning → conflict → turn → ending, character-led scenes); Checklist 方法/清单 (Numbered steps, one step per page).
- Each planned scene and its handwritten labels can be edited before drawing.

## 4. Generate

- 1 credit per image. Generation runs in the background (usually 2–4 minutes per image); you can close the tab and find results under Recent images. Up to 9 images can be in progress per account.
- Images are drawn server-side with GPT Image 2.5 (Flare); planning uses a fast GPT model.
- If a generation fails or times out, the credit is refunded automatically. Any single image can be redrawn (1 credit) without touching the others.

## 5. Export

- Article mode: copy or download the full article as Markdown (.md) or WeChat-friendly HTML (.html); each hosted image URL is inserted after its planned paragraph. Or copy a single image’s Markdown.
- Slides mode: download PPTX (one full-bleed image per slide), a ZIP of page images plus a Markdown list, or the Markdown list alone. InkDoo is not a PPTX editor — slides are image pages.
- History keeps past illustrated articles so you can reopen and export them.

## Style

Minimal black hand-drawn wobbly line art on pure white, plenty of empty space and a few short red/orange/blue handwritten notes in the article’s language. One idea per image — explanatory sketches, not slides or stock illustrations. The character always does the core action (cranks the sieve, carries the box, pulls the lever); if a scene would work without the character, the planner rewrites it.
